A fun, supportive activity book that helps autistic children explore, understand, and celebrate who they are.
The Autistic Explorer Activity Book is a free, neuro-affirming resource created to support autistic children in understanding themselves in a positive, empowering way.
Through gentle activities, visuals, and prompts, the book encourages self-exploration without pressure — recognising that every autistic child is unique, and that there is no “right” way to engage.
This resource can be used at home, in schools, or within support settings, either independently or with a trusted adult.
What the Activity Book Includes
The Autistic Explorer Activity Book offers a range of flexible, child-friendly activities, including:
- Exploring feelings and emotions
- Understanding sensory preferences and needs
- Identifying strengths, interests, and comforts
- Expressing likes, dislikes, and boundaries
- Building self-awareness in a positive, affirming way
Activities can be completed in any order, revisited as often as needed, or adapted to suit each child’s communication style and developmental level.
Who Is It For?
This activity book is suitable for:
- Autistic children and young people
- Parents and carers supporting self-understanding
- Schools and settings looking for inclusive resources
- Professionals working in neurodiversity-affirming ways
It works particularly well for children who benefit from visual supports, structured choices, and clear, reassuring language.
Why We Created It
Many autistic children are given resources that focus on changing who they are, rather than helping them understand and value themselves. We wanted to create something different.
The Autistic Explorer Activity Book was designed to give autistic children a safe, positive space to explore their feelings, needs, strengths, and experiences — at their own pace and in ways that feel right for them.
There is no expectation to complete the book from start to finish. Children can dip in and out, skip pages, repeat activities, or engage in non-traditional ways. Every approach is valid.
Our aim is to support positive autistic identity, build confidence, and help children feel seen, understood, and accepted — just as they are.
How to Use This Resource
- Use it a little at a time, or focus on favourite pages
- Complete activities together or independently
- Adapt prompts to suit communication needs
- Use drawings, symbols, words, or gestures — all are welcome
This book is about exploration, not performance.
