When the World Gets Loud
A gentle, reassuring story that helps autistic children feel seen, understood, and accepted — just as they are.
£9.99 · Paperback · Ages 3–8

Meet Amelia, a little dragon with a big heart
At Everwing School, mornings are full of roars, stomps, and scribbling crayons. For most young dragons, it's all part of the fun. But for Amelia, the noise can quickly become too much.
Like many autistic children, Amelia experiences the world in a deeply sensory way. Sounds that others might not notice can feel overwhelming — and when they do, she needs time and space to feel safe again.
With the help of her friend Thomas and a basket of calming tools, Amelia learns that it's okay to step back, ask for help, and use the supports that help her thrive.
"Amelia is not broken, naughty, or in need of fixing — she simply needs understanding, support, and the right environment to thrive."

From Burry Port, with care
Together for Neurodiversity is a Welsh community interest company dedicated to creating a world where neurodivergent children and young people are truly understood, respected, and supported.
The world of When the World Gets Loud is fictional, but it is rooted in Burry Port, South Wales. Amelia is named after Amelia Earhart, who landed off the Burry Port coast on her first transatlantic flight. Thomas is named after Thomas Gaunt, a figure connected to nearby Pembrey Harbour — chosen for themes of guidance, support, and community.
Written by Ammanys Robinson, Managing Director of Together for Neurodiversity, this book is the latest in our work to put neurodivergent voices and experiences at the heart of children's stories.
